Happy new year to all readers of NLP Hypnosis Secrets. It’s been awhile since I last updated the blog but this is a new year and a chance to work myself back into a regular routine. During the last few months I’ve been working on building some promotional relationships with other websites and blogs within the topic of self improvement. NLP Hypnosis Secrets is now syndicated on Hypnosis Knowledge and you may have also noticed that we now have a tab at the top of the page which takes you to a forum where you can discuss NLP, hypnosis and other related topics. The forum is hosted by the good people at HypnoBusters.

Now onto the actual topic of discussion, nail biting and how you can cure your addiction using NLP.

Addiction may seem like a strong word for habitual nail biting but if you’ve every tried to stop it you will know how hard it can be. The reason for this is that nail biting is an obsessive-compulsive disorder so you can’t just make a conscious effort to stop and expect it to work. It’s like that itch that you need to scratch.

There are two kinds of nail biters. The first are those who bite their nails without the conscious thought to do so. They are usually focusing on another activity such as watching TV or working on the computer and bite their nails as if it’s a natural thing to do. The second kind specifically decide to bite on their nails and feel a strong desire to do so whenever they look at their nails.

The reason people bite their nails is that it satisfies a subconscious urge. This urge is often intensified by stress and anxiety. When they bite their nails they gain a certain feeling of relaxation and satisfaction.

That is why the first thing to do with a client with a nail biting habit is to help them to relax more, eliminating the (intensifying) need to bite their nails. This can be done with a simple hypnotic induction and deepener. Then you can use hypnotic suggestions that make the client realize nail biting is not good for them, making them associate nail biting with chipped teeth and gum infections. You could also teach them an anchoring technique to help them satisfy their urge to bite their nails. This could consist of anchoring the feeling of relaxation with touching their chin with their forefinger and thumb. This provides a similar action to nail biting without any of the potential damage or social uncouthness.

If you would like help to quit nail biting then I recommend this Nail Biting Hypnosis MP3. Listen to it once a day for a month and you will be able to break the habit for good.

Here’s a simple NLP technique that you can use covertly to get someone to agree with you on a certain point. You can use this trick when negotiating a pay rise, selling a product in person or anytime you’re trying to work people over to your side of the fence. All it requires is using a technique known as anchoring.

Before you reach the moment/question/sales pitch where you want to get the other person to agree with you, you must first lay some groundwork. Ask your target a few yes or no questions. This isn’t a yes set where you want the person to only answer yes. You actually want a mixture of both yes and no answers.

Whenever they answer a question with a yes, flash them a sincere smile (this may take some practice in the mirror) and tie this in with a certain gesture. This can be any gesture you choose, but make sure it’s simple and subtle. For example when you smile you might touch your chin with your index finger. When they answer no stay pretty stony faced and tie this in with another separate gesture that can’t be mistook for the first, If you use the example I gave above for yes, then you could blink and leave your eyes closed for a second longer than you would normally.

Now that you have anchored a positive and negative reaction you have set up your target. This is when it’s time to strike. When you ask the BIG question wherever it’s “Will you give me a raise?” or “Would you like to meet up next Saturday?” you then use the gesture that you used whenever they answered yes. This will resonate in their subconscious mind, and without even consciously thinking about it, nine times out of ten they will agree.

It doesn’t really take much practice to do. You might want to practice your gestures in the mirror to make sure they look natural but that’s about it.

And that’s how to get someone to agree with you.

To truly master the seductive arts you need to learn how to use fractional rapport hooks. As you will probably already know rapport is the conversational bond you create with another person. If you have been studying NLP and conversational hypnosis you should already be able to build rapport pretty easily. What you are able to do with fractional rapport hooks is better hide the fact you are using “secret” and “covert” and also get a person really wanting your attention.

How is this done? Well the idea of fractional rapport is to offer your target your complete attention for a short period of time and hook them in with an incomplete story or piece of information. Then you take all of this away. This leaves the person you were talking to wanting more and craving your attention again.

Most people know a guy who’s a bit of a jerk with women, constantly playing hot and cold, yet they are consistently surrounded by them. At first it makes no sense to you but without knowing it (in most cases) they are using fractional rapport hooks. You too can experience great success with this method, and you don’t have to be a jerk about it…unless you want to be.

For example say you have struck up a conversation with a woman in a bar and you’re getting along well. You’ve asked her questions about her life and know you’re telling her a little story about yourself (either real or made up). Now if you see that she is enjoying yourself what you can do is act as if your mobile has gone off and you’ve received a text. Tell her that there’s a bit of an emergency at work or with a family member/friend and that you have to go right away. This will be a bit of a shock to her. Here the window is open. Now you can apologise and ask for her phone number so that you can get a chance to talk again. I have never known this not to work.

That is quite an extreme example though. Another method of using fractional rapport hooks is to tell a story but leave out key details. For instance you could talk about a great holiday you had but not mention the actual destination, make your target ask questions and they will become hooked into the story.

Using fractional rapport hooks is almost like play fighting with a dog over a piece of rope. You give them a little slack but then you pull it right back in. It’s easy to do and it’s one of the few techniques which just impossible to spot from the point of view of the other person. It doesn’t feel like a game, it feels real and that is the real secret to building great rapport.

Presuppositions are considered to be one of the most powerful language patterns within NLP. The idea is to presuppose an outcome as if it is guaranteed to happen. When used correctly the person you are talking to will make the connection that this outcome is bound to happen. For example if you are meeting with a new client to discuss a contract you might use the line “Before we finalize the contract, would you like something to drink?”. It sounds like you are giving your client a choice, but in reality the choices having nothing to do with each other. You are steering them towards what you want to happen.

Here you can see that the fact that finalizing the contract has been presupposed within a question about having something to drink. The desired outcome has been presupposed. You can use such presuppositions to control the flow and tempo of the conversation so that you always end up presupposing the outcome you want. Before long these frequent presuppositions and suggestions will stick to your target’s subconscious mind and the outcome won’t be in the question at all. It will be as if you both wanted the same thing from the very get go.

There a few different ways to use presuppositions to get what you want.

Ors

Or presuppositions gives the illusion of choice but have the intention of one definite outcome. There is often an “or” in many other presuppositions too.

“Should we go out for a drink or go to a restaurant instead?”

Here you are presupposing that you are definitely going out. The only question is where.

Numeric Indicators

Numeric indicators use words such as first, second, third, etc to indicate order.

“Do you want to go to X first or Y?”

Here you’ve given someone two choices of where to go yet they could easily be two places you want to go anyway.

Time Based

Time bases presuppositions use words such as now, then, after, when, prior etc to presuppose a time of action.

“Would you like my phone number now or when we leave the club?”

This is an effective presupposition because now only are you assuming that they want your number but you will be leaving the club together. An excellent presupposition for seduction purposes.

Twisting Time

Much like time based presuppositions except less obvious. Common words used include start, stop, begin, end, continue, already, etc.

“Do you want to continue this here, or go elsewhere to finish it off?

This presupposes that the person wants to continue whatever discussion is going on.

There are a few other methods of slipping in presuppositions into conversation but the four ways above are the main ways, and all you need to know to start using them to get what you want.

Some people use presuppositions without even realizing it so they probably don’t quite understand why others seem to do what they want more often than not. However you now know what presuppositions are and how to use them. This means that you can pattern your use of them direct people towards the specific outcome you want. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how useful this can be.

I hope you have enjoyed this article and begin using presuppositions to get what you want. Your powers of persuasion will increase dramatically for it.

Today I am going to teach you a simple hypnotic induction that you can add to your arsenal of powerful covert hypnosis tactics. As you may be aware the hypnotic handshake induction was created by Milton Erickson, perhaps the greatest hypnotist to ever live. This means you are going to be learning an easy induction created by one of the very best hypnotists. The hypnotic handshake induction is often taught in expensive NLP workshops but today the knowledge is yours for free.

As the name suggests, in this induction you will need to be shaking hands with your subject to induce a light hypnotic trance. I’m sure that right now you realise the power and potential this holds for you. Think of all the times you shake hands with someone whether it’s with a friend, a customer or a boss. If you want to, you can use the hypnotic handshake induction on anyone you meet.

The basic premise behind the hypnotic handshake induction is to shake the subjects hand and then breaking the flow of the handshake in someway. Common methods of doing this including gently grabbing the subject’s wrist or running your fingers over their palm. Allow me to explain to you why this works. Shaking hands is a behavior so well engrained in the mind that when it doesn’t go “as usual” the mind literally suspends itself in a trance, confused at the situation. The subject is left momentarily confused and this leaves them open to suggestion and direction.

There are only really two skills to this confusion tactic. One is having the nerve to use it. The other is to distract the subject while you are performing and ending the hypnotic handshake induction. You can do this by making an innocuous comment such as “Isn’t it a great day today?”. As the subject processes this comment you should notice they look a little confused and usually they will not have heard what you said so they will either smile blankly or ask you to repeat what you said. This is an excellent sign that the hypnotic handshake induction has worked.

After you have performed the induction it is time to jump in quick with a suggestion or command. What this is depends on who you are talking to and what you desire of them. If you are talking to a customer, for example, you may want to step in with a leading question such as “So what are you looking to buy from me now [Name]?”. The command or suggestion is every bit as important as the handshake induction itself so have what you want to say planned before performing the induction. As you can see from my example the question presumes that the customer is looking to buy something from me, right now. You may be able to imagine how many quick sales this can help you achieve.

The hypnotic handshake induction is something you should probably practice with a willing friend before “going public” with it. However you will find that it really doesn’t take long to master. The version I have taught you above is for using as an induction for covert hypnosis, however with some small changes it can be used during stage or street hypnosis and even hypnotherapy.

When you intend to seduce either a woman or man it pays to have a plan and one of the very best seduction techniques you could ever learn are embedded commands. The idea behind embedded commands came from Milton Erickson and was later fine tuned by John Grinder and Richard Bandler, the co-founders of NLP. There are many uses for embedded commands but in this article I will concentrate on how they can be used to seduce anyone you desire.

Embedded commands work by planting a thought or idea into the mind of the person you are trying to seduce. So, for example, if I was talking to an attractive woman that I had met via strange circumstances I might say to her “Isn’t it funny we should be together like this?”. It’s a perfectly natural piece of conversation but within the question you will notice the command “we should be together”. This places the idea in the woman’s mind that it would be a good idea for us to get together.

At this juncture I would like to mention the importance of the tone of your voice while delivering embedded commands. They are called commands for a reason, they should be spoken in the manner of a command. That doesn’t mean you need to seem stern and authorities though (although it is a good idea to appear in control of the situation if you are a man looking to seduce a woman). Commands should be delivered with a downward inflection. This is in contrast to questions which end with an upward inflection. If you’re not sure what I mean by this say “go to the shop” out-loud to yourself and listen to the commanding tone of your voice.

There are a couple of different formulas that have been designed to help with the creation of embedded commands but I find these to be restrictive and often too obvious or difficult to naturally slip into a conversation. I have come up with a number of embedded commands for the purposes of seduction and I invite you to borrow them as well as create your own.

“I could sense/feel the excitement…”
“It’s just like me to…”
“Sometimes you have to take a chance…”
“You can find the perfect man/woman (touch or stroke your chin) for you if you look hard enough.”
“Isn’t it great when you can feel a connection growing?”
“Did it feel good?”
“Could you imagine us in the future?” This one works great after a discussion about life goals.

The embedded commands above can be used on a man or woman.

Before you start trying to seduce people with embedded commands it is important to spend time practicing so that your technique is flawless. If you go out and attempt to use embedded commands without practice your speech will sound awkward and disjointed and you will enjoy no success.

The best way to practice and master the use of embedded commands for seduction is first by creating a number of commands that flow well with your regular speech patterns. Commands don’t have to be complicated so this part should be easy. Once you have an arsenal of embedded commands, practice speaking them into a dictaphone (many cell phones now have this capability).

Keep practicing and playing your recordings back to yourself until your embedded commands flow smoothly to the point where you believe no-one would ever suspect that you are using this powerful seduction technique.

When you are ready you can begin using these commands while talking to a potential partner. Pay close attention to how they react whilst you are speaking to them. Some commands will work better than others, try to gauge which ones have the desired effect and which ones don’t. This way you can edit your embedded commands for the future, keep the good ones and ditch bad ones.

If you stumble the first few times in a real social situation don’t worry. It is perfectly natural as you are now in a new and stimulating environment. You will soon find yourself settling into a rhythm where embedded commands become second nature to you.

Do not forget that the dance of seduction is a two way conversation not a monologue so make sure to listen just as much as you talk.

Please be responsible with this technique.

Doug Slater.
